Lioudmila Voropai is a curator, art critic and media theorist. She studied Philosophy, Art History and New Media Art in Moscow (RGGU) and Cologne (KHM). The key subjects of her theoretical research are critical theory, institutional critique, discourse analysis and sociology of contemporary art as well as related problems of cultural policy.
In her doctoral research, conducted at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne (KHM), she analysed the process of institutionalisation of New Media Art and an impact of cultural policy on establishment of new artistic forms and practices.
Currently she is a Research Fellow at the Graduate School for the Arts and Sciences of the University of the Arts (UdK) in Berlin. Her current research project is focused on critical aspects of establishment of new institutional paradigms such as "Artistic Research", "Art-Science Interaction" etc. She is an author of numerous art critical publications as well as various curatorial and art projects.
