Mike Zryd

Michael Zryd is an Associate Professor in Cinema and Media Studies at the Department of Film at York University in Toronto. He has served as Archivist of the Society for Cinema and Media Studies (SCMS), and was founding co-chair of the SCMS Experimental Film and Media Scholarly Interest Group. He is a past President of the Film Studies Association of Canada. His research areas include Hollis Frampton, experimental film and media, documentary, and the history of the discipline of cinema and media studies. He has published essays in Canadian Journal of Film Studies, CineAction, Cinema Journal, Montage/av, The Moving Image, October, and Public, in addition to essays in "Blackwell History of American Cinema" (2012), "Optic Antics" (2011), "Useful Cinema" (2011), "Stan VanDerBeek: The Culture Intercom" (2011), and "Inventing Film Studies" (2008).
