Siegfried Zielinski holds the chair for Media Theory: Archaeology and Variantology of the Media at the Berlin University of Arts, he is Michel Foucault Professor for Techno-Culture and Media Archaeology at the European Graduate School Saas Fee, and he is director of the International Vilém-Flusser-Archive in Berlin. He published numerous books and essays with focus on the Archaeology and Variantology of the Media. In 2004 he founded the international research unit Variantology - On Deep Time Relations between Arts, Sciences and Technologies, which included the publication of a 5-volume-book-series, published by Walther Koenig, Cologne from 2005-2011.
Zielinski is a member of the Academy of Arts Berlin, the Northrhine-Westfalian Academy of Sciences and Arts, the European Film Academy, and the Magic Lantern Society of Great Britain.
